Simone Thiele
(*1965, Allschwil BL, Switzerland; lives and works in Basel, Switzerland)
Simone Thiele began her creative career as a 3D polydesigner in spatial design. Since 2010, she has focused on painting and studied at the Visual Art School Basel from 2013 to 2017 to deepen her practice. Her work examines how line, surface, and color interact. She layers these elements, shifting and redefining their relationships. A surface that seems dominant may lose importance to an underlying layer that stands out through color, texture, or movement. This creates a lively exchange between layers and a changing sense of space. Thiele’s questions often touch on philosophy: how one element affects another, what it provokes or demands, and how different presences coexist. Yet her process remains intuitive and rooted in direct engagement with materials rather than theory.
