Life Unposed features photographs from Craig Semetko’s best-known books and series'—Unposed and India Unposed—alongside newly debuted images from his recent publication, America Unposed, offering a survey show, with particular emphasis on his travels in America.
The exhibition is especially resonant serving as a reflection of the nation’s mood during a notably unpredictable moment. Through a keen sense of humor, Semetko captures our relationship to place with wit and humanity, revealing quiet truths that shape the American experience.
Born in Detroit, Semetko spent much of his adult life in Chicago. Although he came to photography later in life, his background as a comedy writer continues to inform his sharp observational style.
