Artjom Chepovetskyy
(*1984 in Odessa, Ukraine; lives and works in Frankfurt am Main, Germany)
Artjom Chepovetskyy’s paintings are a sophisticated interplay of depth, transparency, and materiality. By combining layers of chiffon, wooden frames and laminated paper, he creates compositions where shapes seem to float on the surface while simultaneously integrating into the deeper strata of the work. This meticulous layering process allows the underlying materials to shine through, transforming them into active participants in the visual narrative.
Chepovetskyy draws inspiration from the urban environment, weaving patterns and forms reminiscent of architectural elements into his pieces. These motifs emerge across the delicate fabric layers, appearing both on top of and behind the translucent surfaces. The resulting works blur the boundaries between abstraction and architecture, inviting viewers to explore the tension between what is revealed and what remains obscured.
