Die Ausstellung A Year Without Summer präsentiert Werke des österreichischen Künstlers Mathias Kessler, der in New York lebt und arbeitet. Bekannt für seine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit Natur und Ökologie, verbindet Kessler in seinen Arbeiten wissenschaftliche Forschung mit künstlerischer Reflexion. Im Zentrum stehen Himmelsbilder der Serie Light Phenomena, die Umweltveränderungen sichtbar machen, sowie das Projekt Making Something out of Nothing, in dem aus illegal exportiertem Plastikmüll ein monumentaler Teppich entstand. Die Ausstellung verdeutlicht eindrucksvoll die Widersprüche zwischen romantischer Naturvorstellung und den Spuren menschlicher Eingriffe.
The exhibition A Year Without Summer presents works by Austrian artist Mathias Kessler, who lives and works in New York. Known for his critical engagement with nature and ecology, Kessler combines scientific research with artistic reflection in his work. At the center are sky images from the Light Phenomena series, which make environmental changes visible, as well as the project Making Something out of Nothing, in which illegally exported plastic waste was transformed into a monumental carpet. The exhibition strikingly highlights the contradictions between romantic notions of nature and the traces of human intervention.
