At first glance, the works of Berlin-based artist Rubica von Streng appear to the viewer as open spaces—fields that allow room for one’s own consciousness as well as for associations and interpretations. The artist’s perspective itself, however, is clearly oriented toward the future, addressing our world through a forward-looking lens. Contemporary issues such as the climate crisis and human conflict—and, in particular, their impact on nature—find expression in parts of her work.
Rather than presenting dystopian or hopeless visions of the world around us, the artist instead reveals the possibility of a respectful coexistence. Layered, almost translucent organic forms evoke flora and fauna while fully resisting figuration. The bright colours, at times applied in translucent washes and at others in opaque passages, appear dreamlike yet neither artificial nor alien. For the artist, these are plausible visions—and prospects—of the future.
As part of the House of Galleries, we are presenting a solo show by the Berlin-based artist Rubica von Streng. The fair will take place from January 22 to 25 in the former executive floors of the Trianon Tower, bringing together around 40 galleries from Frankfurt and across Europe in an exceptional exhibition setting—high above the city’s rooftops.
In her artistic practice, Rubica von Streng engages with states of transformation. Her works explore transitions, ruptures, and processes of change as formative moments in both individual lives and societal developments. Moving between analytical precision and open, future-oriented perspectives, her practice creates spaces for new readings of the present.
Following the presentation at the House of Galleries, a further solo exhibition will be shown at our Frankfurt gallery spaces. Titled “Seasons Beyond Time,” the exhibition will present an expanded selection of her works and will be on view until March 7, 2026.
Following the presentation at the House of Galleries, a further solo exhibition will take place in the gallery’s Frankfurt spaces. Titled Seasons Beyond Time, the exhibition will present an expanded selection of the artist’s works on view until 7 March 2026. It is dedicated to transformation as a fundamental constant of existence and explores the cyclical nature of life: infinity and finitude, becoming and passing, life and death are not conceived as opposites, but as interwoven states within an ongoing cycle.
In her artistic practice, Rubica von Streng engages with complex states of change that also resonate throughout the exhibition title Seasons Beyond Time. Her works investigate transitions, ruptures, and transformations as processes that transcend time and shape both individual and societal developments. Situated between analytical precision and open, forward-looking perspectives, the works create pictorial spaces in which change becomes legible not only as a moment of fragility, but also as a continuous, generative potential.
In the series SEASONS, Rubica von Streng turns to small-format watercolours that capture fleeting impressions of the day and situate them within the broader rhythm of the seasons. Created in 2025 and measuring 10 × 10 cm, the works condense atmospheric moments into sensitive pictorial spaces in which perception, memory, and time intersect. As intimate visual notes, they register moods without being narratively fixed, instead opening up fields of association and resonance.
Thematically, SEASONS connects to key motifs within the artist’s overall body of work: continuous transformation, the tensions inherent in processes of change, and the cycle of life and death. Through the metaphor of the seasons, transience and becoming are rendered equally visible—growth and withdrawal, emergence and stillness existing in a fragile balance.
The works are signed and dated on the reverse and presented in a high-quality, floating frame with an aluminium strip, bevel-cut mat, and museum glass.
